Summer Reading Assignment

Over the summer, you read two books from the Oyster Bay Summer Reading List. One was a fiction book, and the other was a nonfiction book. The first half of your assignment was to complete two worksheets. The second half of your assignment is to create a blog which will highlight the books you read all year.

The first book on your blog will be one of the books you read this summer. In the review of your book, you need to include the following...

Plot: Your plot summary should include all the relevant details from the book. This section should be between 3-5 paragraphs.

Characters: Pick two characters and write about them. You should include a description of them, as well as your thoughts about the character. Some questions you might want to consider answering...
What did I like/dislike about this character?
What would I have done differently it I were this character?
What do you predict will happen to this character in the future?
This section will be at least 2 paragraphs per character.

Your Thoughts: Please give the world your thoughts on the book. It is easy to say, "I liked it." But, you need to tell us why you liked it. What was it about your book that appealed to you? On the other hand, if you didn't like the book, tell the world why.
This section will be between 3-4 paragraphs.

Reading Strategies: At this point, you are all familiar with the 7 Habits of a highly Proficient Reader. In this section, you will talk about which strategies you used, and how they helped you.
This section will be between 3-4 paragraphs.

Picture of the book: Include a picture of the book.

Author Information: Who is the author? Did the author write any other books? What did you like about how the author wrote the book?

Every book you finish this year must be added to your blog. By the end of the year, you should have at least 25 books posted to your blog.

I will post my summer reading book as an example of how your posts should look. I will also post throughout the year to show you how the posts should look.

Good Luck,
Mr. D
